Since its golden age in the 1950s, the lunchbox’s popularity has been in steady decline, and has now disappeared into the periphery of midday meal accessories. The company Aladdin, which used to be the leading manufacturer of these boxes in the United States, does no longer find it economically viable to sell lunchboxes, and discontinued their production in 1998. Maybe it was the flimsy hinges, maybe it was the cheap experiments with vinyl boxes, or the ephemeral formed plastic - the lunchbox has many undesirable connotations that inhibit people from bringing food from home.
The Mentsu Lunchbox is built to restore the reputation of lunchboxes. It's suitable for a variety of foods, both hot and cold.
